The city was awarded a $875,000.00 Grant through Florida Department of Environmental Protection #LPA0314 to rehabilitate the existing ground storage tank.

- As of January 8, 2026, the CONSTRUCTION on the Ground Storage Tank Rehabilitation Project is 100% completed.
- On November 3, 2025, the City executed Change Orders No. 2 & 3, which were due to further issues with the structural integrity of the existing water tank, and that more work was needed than originally anticipated.
- The rehab project commenced on June 3, 2025 and is underway at this time.
- On March 3, 2025, the City of Lake Butler signed DEP CHANGE ORDER NO.1 which changed the scope of the project from the construction of a new Ground Storage Tank to a rehabilitation on the EXISTING Ground Storage Tank.
- At the April 15, 2025 Regular City Commission Meeting, the City Commission made the motion to approve the Notice of Award & Transmittal of Contracts for City of Lake Butler Ground Storage Tank Project LP WTP GST Upgrade with DEP Agreement No. LPA0314 with Kent Brothers.
- At the Regular City Commission Meeting on February 18, 2025, the City Commission approved the Engineer’s Recommendation of award to Kent Bros. Inc for the City of Lake Butler Ground Storage Tank Project LP WTP GST Upgrade with DEP Agreement No. LPA0314.
- Sealed Bids were opened and read aloud at City Hall on December 20, 2024 at 2:00pm.
- Payment Request for $10,000 was submitted February 16, 2023, to the Department of Environmental Planning
- Engineer Service Agreement executed January 17, 2023, with Mittauer & Associates
- Grant Agreement LPA0314 was fully Executed on July 25, 2022
- Amendment #1 to Agreement LPA0314 to extend the expiration date of the Grant
- Grant Agreement LPA0314 was fully Executed on July 25, 2022
- Inspection was completed of the Ground Storage Tank May 11, 2020
